Bringing Glory to God

Our God is so good. Jesus told His disciples right before He was arrested that it is His plan for us to "abide" in Him, and He in us. By this we will bear much fruit for God, which brings glory to God and fills us with joy. When we look at the order in which those things occur, we see that God first receives glory. This is the primary purpose of our abiding in Him and why our abiding in Him is to be foremost for us. Because He receives glory.

Brother Paris Reidhead said, "Why should a person come to the cross? Why should a person embrace death with Christ? Why should a person be willing to go in identification down to the cross and into the tomb and up again? I'll tell you why! Because it's the only way that God can get glory out of a human being!" The chief end to Christ’s suffering and our being identified and redeemed through Him is that He would get His glory out of our lives. Yes we receive everlasting life, yes we inherit the riches of His kingdom, and yes He would desire for us to be filled with His joy that our joy would be complete... but all of these are the byproducts of being used as instruments bringing Him glory.

Our God is so good, and worthy of all praise, honor and glory. May our lives become less self-centered, less about making God a "means" to our happiness, but rather about making Him and His glory the end of all purpose for our being... for THIS is why Christ came to suffer and redeem us. This is life on the narrow road.
