The Crossroad Summer 2005
September 2, 2005

The Crossroad youth center had a very busy summer!  One of the primary ministries the team was involved in was planning and putting on Vacation Bible School programs for three different churches from the area who did not have the resources to run their own.

Our summer ministry team of 12 also took high school kids from the area on day trips each week to places like the Pittsburg Zoo, DelGrosso’s Amusement Park, and an Altoona Curve baseball game.

The Crossroad was open every Friday night this summer, including five “theme” nights.  There were such themes as “fake moustache night” and “south of the border night.”  Each night, there was food, dress, and décor to match the theme and many of the students had great fun dressing up or getting a fake moustache painted on their face.  Every Bible study on those Friday nights had the theme of “don’t waste your life,” and after each message, there was a different local outreach for students to participate in.  The outreaches included passing out free bottles of water and telling people about Jesus, making a meal for a men’s shelter in the area, and walking around downtown Clearfield holding signs with statistics on area drug use.

Our team was also asked to speak at a church overnighter in Duncansville, PA, which took place in early August. There were three messages given throughout the night and three people accepted the gospel message of Jesus Christ!  Many other students made decisions to serve Christ with their lives instead of living for themselves!

The Crossroad staff closed out their summer as counselors at a weeklong teen camp, which was hosted by a local church.  They were very privileged to show the love of Jesus Christ to kids who don’t know what it really means to be loved, to give the hope of Jesus Christ to kids who have no hope, and to encourage those who already believe in Jesus to stand strong.
