TAGG Summer In Review
September 14, 2006

This summer has been a busy one for the T.A.G.G. Team.  We have been privileged to run four V.B.S programs at four different area churches, put on Amped, our one-day music and skateboarding fest, and carry out our regular summer schedule that included Go-days, weekly bible studies, and being open for the students on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons as well as Friday nights.

In our V.B.S. program this year, we taught on Elijah in 1 Kings 18, Jonah in the book of Jonah, Jesus with His disciples in Matthew 8:23-27, and the death and resurrection of Christ in Luke 23-24.  Each day the Bible story encouraged and taught the students to believe in God, obey God, trust God, and live for God.  What an amazing liberty we have, to be able to preach the Gospel of Christ to children!  Praise God that we still have the freedom to teach Christ crucified without fear of persecution and praise Him that He desired for 75 kids from 3-14 to hear how much He loves them!

Amped is an all day outdoor street fest where we close the street in front of the Crossroad Youth Center and invite Christian pro-skaters and Christian bands to preach Christ and perform for whoever comes.  This was our second annual street event, and as the story goes, last year it started to rain in the middle of the day after everything was set up and going, and a small group of people got down on their knees in the street and cried out to God to stop the rain and allow the event to continue, not because anyone wanted to look good, but because Amped is for and about preaching the Gospel of Christ, and the rain would prevent that from happening.

This year the rain didn’t wait until midday; it was going strong at 7:45am.  The students and leaders who came early to help set up first got on their faces in the middle of the street in the middle of the downpour and cried out to God and asked that if the rain would bring more glory to His name, then Amen, let the rain come.  But if not, if Christ would be more glorified by His Gospel being preached, then let the rains cease and let the sun come out.  By about 10am, the rain stopped and except for a few drops here and there, didn’t start again until the event was over.  He allowed the skaters to perform and give testimonies, all three bands to perform to His glory, and the good news of Christ’s death and resurrection to go out to the ears of all who were present.
