Road Rules 2006
September 14, 2006

This year’s Road Rules trip took our team of 29 students and leaders from Clearfield, towards Providence Rhode Island, into and around Boston Massachusetts. Then onward to Rochester and Niagara Falls, New York and Canada.

The prevailing theme this year, our third road rules, was a mirror of Jesus ministry with His disciples.  The first year it seemed He taught the disciples, the second He sent them out and was there to help, and in the third He gave the great commission to preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth.  Our hope was that this year the students would be empowered to serve as the hands and feet and mouth of Jesus, as we, the leaders, took a smaller role.

There are countless stories from each stop.  The team got a private tour of Fenway Park and helped clean out three years worth of donated clothing and toys from a garage in Lowell, Massachusetts.  We sorted clothing in the basement of Starbucks and served snow cones in front of the Providence Rescue Mission.  We spread topsoil at the Rochester Rescue Mission and prayed out side of a Planned Parenthood clinic.  There was even a late night mulching the outside of a church on Niagara, New York.

For each student certain places will stick out.  Perhaps for some on this trip it was the worship services at night or maybe they had an amazing talk with a recovering heroin addict.  Each student can point to at least one place and one conversation that has affected and changed them, as Jesus showed up and moved in hearts.
