Road Rules 2007
September, 2007

This year was our fourth Road Rules trip. We took 20 students and 9 leaders on a grueling week long work trip that would take students beyond where they thought they could go but where Jesus would grow them. We traveled south through four states. This year our team worked at an abusive women’s shelter getting clothes sorted for a clothing drive. We also cleaned a warehouse for Boaz and Ruth, a ministry that gives hope to ex inmates. We were able to confront our fears and prejudices as we worked alongside ex-inmates and took part in a racial reconciliation meeting. On our trip we also painted the inside of a house as well as took part in and lead worship services. One was a 6 a.m. prayer meeting at a Korean church where we heard our voices mingling with theirs in song and in prayer reminding us that we worship a great Jesus. We were also involved in the hardest physical labor Road Rules has ever done. We dug through hard clay with shovels, picks, and our hands to dig water ditches, put on a roof, and built a patio at a boys home on a hot day. Our trip ended with a night of worship and prayer before waking up and handing out hundreds of fliers for a church that was having a special Father’s Day service that Sunday. When we got back home the students were greeted by family and friends who had made dinner for us. Praise God for all that was done in and through the staff and students that went way beyond themselves throughout the week and found Jesus waiting for them.
