The Sacred Ruckus
September, 2007

The Sacred Ruckus was a threeday outdoor camping event in which a call was put out to all who would come to pray to turn this world upside down for the Gospel, perhaps one last time. This event took place on the Riehl family farm in Morrisdale, PA and was birthed out of prayer and the last Narrow Road winter retreat. The stories of God’s direction, faithfulness, and grace could fill several chapters, but we’ll share a few.

Students from across NJ, PA, even MA descended on Morrisdale to pray, to worship their Jesus, and to seek His will for their life. The evil one had different things planned
though. The weather looked gloomy and several groups that had planned to be there couldn’t be. There was sickness and family deaths that stopped people from being there. But what was meant for evil, Jesus turned to His glory and our good.

Each day started with prayer, worship and a message. Throughout the day there were opportunities to spend time with Jesus, and each night we sang, prayed, and listened as the word of God was preached. One such night the challenge was made that if you wanted to be a light in this world then you must be a light in your home. That night the hill above the big tent was lit with students on their cell phones calling parents, friends, and brothers to apologize, ask forgiveness, and extend forgiveness.
