| It was in these months of weeping for God’s
face and battling for joy to return to our lives that God picked
up our very lives by His hand and held them completely upside down
for what seemed an eternity…waiting for Him to set us upright and place
us somewhere… anywhere… just down. We didn’t care
where after too long. We wouldn’t even
try to bargain the circumstances with Him. We wanted God…
and we wanted to be planted down where we would find Him.
The narrow road is the path Jesus walks.
It is the only path that this new life we’ve been given can
be walked on, and the only path on which Jesus can be found.
God was and continues to show us that any path which includes
the fulfilling of “our rights,” whether American rights, political
rights, educational rights, employment rights, you name it…. the
presence of and intimate fellowship with Jesus is not found on that
path. Jesus abandoned
His rights to become human and die for us.
Jesus tells us that we must walk where He walks to find Him.
All our rights to this life are foolishness once we die
to this world and are raised up in the resurrected life of Jesus
Christ! We are new creations!
We are to look and be different from the rest of the world.
We are to seek God’s kingdom and righteousness, abandoning
our rights so we may live for Jesus Christ and His purposes alone.
God set us down when He knew our hearts
were ready to abandon our rights to the lives we had known for so
long. Within nine months
of that time we had resigned our positions with our employers and
moved to where God pointed. He asked us to,
“not only share the gospel with them but our lives as well.”
He set us down on the narrow road, and we've been striving
to walk it ever since. |
